Azerbaijan, Uganda explore deeper economic cooperation in high-level talks

28 August 2025 18:34

Azerbaijan and Uganda have expressed strong interest in enhancing bilateral economic relations following a meeting between Azerbaijani First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev and Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Affairs John Mulimba, held in Baku.

The discussions focused on identifying strategic areas of cooperation and expanding mutual trade and investment opportunities between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy.

The sides affirmed their commitment to strengthening economic engagement and emphasized the untapped potential for growth across multiple sectors.

“There was an exchange of views on expanding economic ties, exploring opportunities for cooperation and investment,” the Ministry stated.

The officials also underscored the importance of facilitating high-level business dialogue and organizing joint initiatives to foster deeper ties.

Particular attention was given to collaboration in energy, agriculture, and mineral resources—sectors identified as having considerable promise for both countries. The parties highlighted the need to hold joint events and promote dialogue between business communities to catalyze private sector partnerships.
