Azerbaijan-UK trade soars nearly sevenfold in January-May 2026
Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom surged nearly sevenfold in the first five months of 2026, driven by a sharp rise in Azerbaijani exports, official data showed.
Thus, bilateral trade reached $3.58 billion in January-May 2026, up 6.9 times compared with the same period a year earlier, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee.
The UK accounted for 17.22% of Azerbaijan's total foreign trade turnover during the reporting period, making it the country's second-largest trading partner. In the corresponding period of 2025, the UK ranked seventh with a 2.48% share.
Azerbaijani exports to the UK increased 24.8-fold year-on-year to $3.47 billion, representing 24.85% of the country's total exports, compared with 1.27% a year earlier.
Meanwhile, imports from the UK fell 3.5-fold to $108.48 million, with their share of Azerbaijan's total imports declining to 1.59%, down from 3.82% in January-May 2025.
