Azerbaijan-UK trade surges 5.5-fold in first half of 2026
Trade between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom reached $3.62 billion in the first half of 2026, marking a 5.5-fold increase compared with the same period last year, according to data from Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.
Bilateral trade amounted to $3.622 billion in January–June 2026, accounting for 14.69% of Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade turnover. The UK ranked second among Azerbaijan’s largest trading partners, compared with sixth place and a 2.71% share during the same period in 2025, Caliber.Az cites the data.
The sharp increase was driven primarily by a surge in Azerbaijani exports to the UK.
Exports rose 24.1-fold year-on-year to approximately $3.475 billion, representing 21.29% of Azerbaijan’s total exports. In the first half of 2025, the UK accounted for just 1.12% of Azerbaijan’s exports.
At the same time, imports from the UK declined 3.5-fold to approximately $146.73 million. The UK’s share of Azerbaijan’s total imports fell to 1.76%, from 4.49% a year earlier.
