Azerbaijan unveils volume of electricity generated by Sugovushan hydroelectric power plant

A total of 21.8 million kWh of electricity was generated at “Sugovushan-1” and “Sugovushan-2” small diversion-type hydroelectric power plants on the Tartar River from the beginning of the resumed operation until October 1, 2023.

The opening ceremony of these stations was held on October 3, 2021, Trend reports citing the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry.

“Sugovushan-1” consists of three hydraulic units with a total capacity of 4.8 MW and each with a capacity of 1.6 MW, while “Sugovushan-2” consists of three hydraulic units with a total capacity of 3 MW, each with a capacity of 1 MW.

Azerbaijan increased electricity production by 154.2 million kilowatt-hours in January-August 2023. In particular, electricity generation reached 19.245 billion kilowatt-hours in Azerbaijan in January-August 2023.

Some 1.53 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were exported from Azerbaijan, while 169.3 million kilowatt-hours were imported in the reporting period of 2023.

Over 28.988 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of four per cent year on year, were generated in Azerbaijan in 2022. More than three billion kilowatt-hours of electricity accounted for export, while 137.1 million kilowatt-hours - for import.
