Azerbaijan, Uruguay explore new avenues for economic, energy cooperation PHOTO
Azerbaijan and Uruguay are seeking to deepen collaboration in renewable energy, green technologies, infrastructure, and food security, with officials on both sides emphasising untapped potential for investment and trade.
First Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Elnur Aliyev, visited the country for talks with senior Uruguayan officials aimed at boosting economic ties, Caliber.Az reports per Economy Ministry.
In a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay Valeria Csukasi, Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts to improve its investment climate and noted that six agreements covering economic, customs, cultural, and other fields have already been signed. Both sides stressed the role of mutual visits and high-level meetings in advancing bilateral relations.
During discussions with Uruguay’s Minister of Industry, Energy, and Mining, Fernanda Cardona, Aliyev highlighted opportunities for Uruguayan companies to invest in Azerbaijan. He pointed in particular to the Alat Free Economic Zone as a platform offering broad advantages for foreign investors.
Aliyev also met Cecilia San Roman, President of Uruguay’s National Administration of Fuels, Alcohol, and Portland (ANCAP), where prospects for cooperation with Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR were discussed. Both sides underlined the potential for joint projects, exchange of expertise, and collaboration in green energy and modern technologies.
