“We welcome the agreement reached on Gaza that would establish a ceasefire in Gaza, and pave the way for the release of hostages and prisoners, and for the unhindered humanitarian aid to Gaza and its reconstruction,” the ministry stated.
The Azerbaijani government also praised the diplomatic efforts that contributed to the breakthrough, commending the mediation roles played by the United States, Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt.
Israel and Hamas have reached a ceasefire agreement, including a planned exchange of hostages, marking the first stage of a U.S.-led initiative by President Donald Trump to end the conflict in Gaza.
The deal was signed in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, and will come into effect once approved by the Israeli cabinet.
Under the terms, hostilities will pause, Israel will begin a partial withdrawal from Gaza, and Hamas will release hostages in return for Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.
