Religious affairs chiefs from Turkic States visit Baku memorials Ahead of Shusha meeting / PHOTO
Senior officials responsible for religious affairs from the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) visited the Alley of Honour in Baku on Monday (June 29) ahead of their first official meeting in the city of Shusha.
According to Azerbaijani media, the delegations laid a wreath at the grave of Azerbaijan's National Leader, Heydar Aliyev, and honoured his memory.
They also visited the grave of prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, where they laid flowers.
The officials later visited the Victory Monument in Victory Park, which commemorates Azerbaijan's victory in the 2020 44-day Patriotic War. They laid a wreath at the monument and paid tribute to those who died for the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
During the visit, the delegations were briefed on the history of Victory Park and the monument, as well as the architectural concept behind the memorial complex.
The first meeting of the heads of state bodies responsible for religious affairs of OTS member states is scheduled to take place in Shusha on June 30.
The meeting is expected to bring together the OTS Secretary General and senior officials responsible for religious affairs from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
