Azerbaijan holds special place in Turkic world – Kazakh president

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has stated that Azerbaijan holds a special position in the Turkic world today in an address to participants of Turkic World Week in Baku, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress.

The address emphasised that the First Turkology Congress was a landmark historical event for the entire Turkic world, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

“The congress became a symbol of the unbreakable unity of fraternal countries. The ideas put forward at this congress have not lost their relevance even today,” the message read.

The text of the address was read out by Kazakh presidential adviser Malik Otarbayev.

Turkic World Week is underway in Baku, featuring a series of scientific and cultural events marking the 100th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress.
