BIG seeks international support for Azerbaijanis’ right of return

The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) says it will continue efforts to raise the issue of the right of return for Azerbaijanis who were expelled from the territory of modern-day Armenia on international platforms.

BIG Executive Director Abbas Abbasov made the statement in an interview with Baku TV, saying the organisation plans to promote the issue through international institutions, including UN bodies, the Human Rights Council, international organisations and civil society groups, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

“Over the past three years, BIG has organized more than 40 international conferences, published more than 55 reports, and submitted approximately 20 alternative reports to relevant UN agencies. By placing this issue on the agenda of international organisations, we aim to achieve the restoration of historical justice,” Abbasov said.

According to Abbasov, BIG’s activities have also contributed to discussions surrounding changes in relevant national legislation.
