Uzbek leader highlights shared heritage, new challenges for Turkic world
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has congratulated participants of the Turkic World Week in Baku, held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress, and called for closer cooperation to address the evolving challenges facing Turkology in the modern era.
In a message, Mirziyoyev extended his heartfelt congratulations to the participants gathered to contribute to the preservation and advancement of the Turkic world's ancient and rich history, scientific and cultural heritage, spiritual values, and historical development, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Uzbek leader described the First Turkology Congress, held in Baku in 1926, as a landmark event that ushered in a new stage in the development of linguistics, ethnology, history, literature, art, and the cultural life of the Turkic peoples.
Mirziyoyev noted that Uzbekistan takes great pride in the participation of prominent Uzbek scholars, distinguished intellectuals, and representatives of the Turkestan intelligentsia in the historic congress.
"We will always remember with great pride the participation of renowned Uzbek scholars, eminent thinkers, and representatives of the Turkestan intelligentsia in this congress," he said.
He also expressed appreciation for the significant contribution made by the community established in the city of Turkestan to the development of the Turkic world.
Looking ahead, Mirziyoyev stressed that Turkology faces new challenges as the world enters a new stage of development. He emphasized the importance of harnessing artificial intelligence and information technologies, creating common Turkic digital resources and scientific platforms, jointly studying historical sources, supporting young Turkologists, and expanding academic cooperation programs.
According to the Uzbek president, these priorities require modern approaches and the unification of efforts across the Turkic world.
