Kazakh leader thanks Azerbaijani counterpart for hosting Turkic World forum in Baku
Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has praised Azerbaijan’s role in promoting Turkic cooperation and thanked President Ilham Aliyev for hosting a major cultural and academic forum in Baku.
In a message to participants of the Week of the Turkic World, held to mark the 100th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress, Tokayev said the ideas raised at the historic gathering “have not lost their relevance” in today’s rapidly changing global environment, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He stressed the importance of preserving and studying shared spiritual and cultural heritage across Turkic nations, calling for closer cooperation between researchers and stronger cultural and humanitarian ties.
“Therefore, it is important to strengthen cooperation between scholars and our cultural and humanitarian partnership. This forum has been organised precisely for this purpose,” the message said.
Tokayev also highlighted Azerbaijan’s “special place” in the Turkic world, commending what he described as its continued contribution to strengthening ties among fraternal countries.
“Today, Azerbaijan is honourably continuing this noble mission,” he said, adding his “sincere gratitude” to President Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people for the initiative to convene the event.
