TURKSOY chief calls first Turkological congress “historic step” in shaping Turkic unity
The First Turkological Congress was a historic step that shaped the destiny of the Turkic world and laid the foundations for preserving a shared cultural and linguistic heritage, according to Sultan Raev, Secretary-General of TURKSOY.
Speaking at Turkic World Week in Baku, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, Raev said representatives of the Turkic world were gathering in the Azerbaijani capital to preserve and continue the legacy established a century ago, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Every step taken in Baku 100 years ago during the First Turkological Congress, every decision made, became factors that today determine the destiny of the Turkic world. Despite the Turkic world spanning different geographical spaces, shared culture and identity have always provided the basis for us to live as one family,” Raev said.
