Azerbaijan, World Bank discuss renewable energy investments

Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA) and a senior energy specialist at the World Bank Group have discussed investment opportunities for new projects on renewable energy in Azerbaijan as well as cooperation with the World Bank.

Samir Akhundov, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AERA under the Ministry of Energy, met with the delegation led by Roger Coma Cunill, a senior energy specialist at the World Bank Group, Report informed on January 11, citing AERA.

Reports on the activities of the agency, current regulations in the energy sector in Azerbaijan, as well as tariff-setting methodology were presented during the meeting.

In addition, investment opportunities in this area, including new projects related to renewable energy in the country, strengthening the electricity network and possible cooperation with the World Bank were also discussed.
