Co-founder of the NGO Coalition "Environmental Protection First" Parvana Veliyeva spoke at the high-level week of the General Assembly on "Universal Health Coverage", "Pandemic Preparedness and Response" and "Tuberculosis" held within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
In her speech, P. Veliyeva touched upon the environmental terror committed by Armenia in the occupied Azerbaijani territories for almost 30 years, Report says.
The Azerbaijani activist said that the mining operations illegally carried out by Armenia in the region for many years and not complying with any environmental norms and standards threaten the health and ecosystem of the region's inhabitants.
She informed the representatives of the UN member states about the activities of the represented organisation and said that the organisation is currently making efforts in the South Caucasus region to stop Armenia's mining activities that violate environmental norms and standards.
"Pollution of fresh water poses a serious threat to human health and water safety, which can lead to the spread of infectious diseases. We condemn all attempts that harm human health and our ecosystem, putting our health at risk," Veliyeva added.
