Azerbaijani energy minister holds talks with Algerian delegation on advancing bilateral cooperation
Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov engaged in discussions with a delegation led by Garbi Abdel Basset, Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the National People's Assembly of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and head of the Algerian-Azerbaijani Friendship Group.
According to Azertac's report from the Ministry of Energy, the meeting delved into the pivotal role of energy cooperation in advancing Azerbaijani-Algerian relations, which boast a longstanding history.
Both parties expressed contentment with their collaboration within the frameworks of OPEC+ and GECF, as well as between relevant ministries and companies such as SOCAR and Sonatrach. Emphasis was placed on the significance of inaugurating a joint working group to fortify relations further, in line with the 'Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria on cooperation in the field of oil and gas'. Furthermore, mutual investment opportunities and the realization of energy sector potential were evaluated.
Highlighting the forthcoming inaugural meeting of the Joint Working Group in June during Baku Energy Week, the discussion extended to potential collaboration in renewable energy and energy efficiency, not solely confined to oil and gas.
Throughout the conversation, both sides exchanged perspectives on various facets of bilateral relations.
