Azerbaijani finance minister stresses importance of Middle Corridor
Azerbaijan’s finance minister has emphasised the rising global significance of the Middle Corridor trade route, citing shifting geopolitical and economic dynamics.
Speaking at a business session during the 59th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank in Samarkand, Finance Minister Sahil Babayev said recent global and regional developments have increased the importance of the initiative, in which Azerbaijan plays a central role, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“The strategic value of the corridor as a reliable and efficient trade route is becoming increasingly evident,” Babayev said.
The Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, connects Asia and Europe via Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, and the South Caucasus.
Babayev noted that the route offers countries an opportunity to diversify trade flows and reduce vulnerabilities linked to global supply chain disruptions.
