Azerbaijani gas to help Romania overcome next winter, says minister
Romania will be more prepared for the next winter thanks to the import of natural gas from Azerbaijan.
The remarks came from Romanian Minister of Energy Virgil Popescu, Report informs.
According to him, this year there are 1 billion 866 million 300 thousand cubic meters of natural gas in Romanian gas storages.
“This is about 780 million cubic meters more than last year. Along with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Romania is ready to additionally import 300 million cubic meters of gas," he said.
Popescu added that there is enough gas in the storage facilities, and any increase in consumption due to the cooling weather can be satisfied:
“The cold season is coming to an end, and we expect to end the season with gas volumes available in gas storage facilities. And next winter, we will have 1 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan at our disposal,” Popescu noted.
The minister also recalled that Romgaz recently signed a contract with SOCAR for the purchase of additional gas supplies.
