Azerbaijani minister: Cooperation with UK plays important role in ensuring global energy security

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has said that long-term and productive cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UK in the energy sector plays an important role in ensuring global energy security.

Shahbazov made these remarks at the celebration of the official birthday of King Charles III in Baku, Report informs.

The minister reminded that Baku and London started cooperating in 1994 after signing the Contract of the Century.

“The joint activity of Azerbaijan and the UK in the transition to green energy allows diversifying our further cooperation in the non-oil sector and other spheres of trade and economic cooperation,” the minister said, emphasising that the growth in trade turnover between the countries in the first quarter amounted to 16 per cent.

Shahbazov also noted that the UK, which has invested $35.9 billion in Azerbaijan, is the biggest investor.
