Azerbaijani official: WUF13 held at decisive moment for global community
The 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) is taking place at a decisive moment for the international community, according to Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan.
Speaking during the Leaders’ Summit at WUF13 in Baku, Guliyev said cities are now at the center of global challenges, including climate change, housing accessibility, migration, infrastructure resilience and social cohesion, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"That is why WUF13 carries great importance. This year's forum marks a historic stage. For the first time, at Azerbaijan's initiative, a special leaders' session has been convened at the level of heads of state and government," he said.
He stressed that hosting the forum reflects Azerbaijan’s commitment to sustainable urban development and international cooperation.
"Hosting WUF13 is both a great honor and a profound responsibility for Azerbaijan. It reflects our dedication to advancing sustainable urban development, rebuilding and revitalizing our cities and communities, and strengthening international cooperation through dialogue and partnership," he added.
Guliyev also said the Leaders’ Summit provides a unique opportunity to shape a shared global vision for cities and reinforce commitment to the New Urban Agenda.
"I thank each of you for your participation and wish us all a productive and inspiring session," the official noted.
