Azerbaijani ombudsman: Mines planted by Armenia continue posing threat
Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva has released information about mine explosions in the Tartar and Aghdam districts.
The mines planted by Armenia during the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani territories continue posing a threat to people's lives and health. Four civilians were wounded as a result of the recent mine explosions, the Ombudsman’s Office told APA.
In total, 350 people suffered as a result of mine explosions after the second Karabakh war and up till now.
The international community should not turn a blind eye to Armenia’s mine terror, but put pressure on this country to provide Azerbaijan with accurate maps of minefields.
Thirty-seven-year-old employee of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) Khayyam Aliyev suffered as a result of a mine explosion on April 2.
The incident occurred during the mine clearance work in Sarijali village of the Aghdam district, liberated from occupation.
Aliyev's condition is satisfactory.
An investigation is underway at the Aghdam District Prosecutor's Office.
A landmine detonated in Chayli village of the Tartar district, leaving three wounded.
Polad Ismayilov, 55, Arzuman Taghizade, 32, and Elmir Baghirov, 18, were grazing animals.
