Azerbaijani PM expresses condolences following Turkish military plane crash
Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov has expressed his condolences and support to Türkiye following the crash of a Turkish Air Force military transport aircraft in Georgia.
The message was conveyed during a phone conversation with Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, who shared the discussion on his social media account.
During the call, Asadov emphasised that Baku is closely monitoring the situation and expressed solidarity with Ankara during this difficult time. Vice President Yılmaz thanked Asadov on behalf of the Azerbaijani people for the condolences and support.
The Turkish C-130 crashed while en route from Azerbaijan to Türkiye. Details regarding the cause of the accident or the condition of those on board have not yet been released.
The Turkish C-130 military transport aircraft crashed near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border while flying from Azerbaijan to Türkiye. The crash occurred in the Signagi area, approximately five kilometres from the Georgian border. The aircraft was carrying 20 Turkish Armed Forces personnel, according to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense.
Search and rescue operations have been launched, coordinated between Turkish, Georgian, and Azerbaijani authorities. Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has also opened an investigation into potential violations of aviation safety or operational protocols that may have contributed to the crash.
