Azerbaijani premier says supplying Armenia with weapons ruins peace process
Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel on October 25.
The importance of the meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation between the Azerbaijani government and the Indian government, which was held in Baku, was emphasised at the meeting. The sides expressed confidence that the decisions made at the meeting and the signed documents would contribute to the development of relations between the two countries, the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers told Caliber.Az.
Touching upon the ongoing processes in the region after the second Karabakh war, Asadov noted that, despite Azerbaijan’s big efforts, Armenia evaded its obligations, refused to withdraw its armed forces from Karabakh, and constantly resorted to various military provocations, which forced Azerbaijan to take local anti-terrorist measures and restore its sovereignty.
The historical conditions have been created for the normalisation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, the signing of a peace treaty and the establishment of peace in the South Caucasus. The provision of Armenia with weapons is causing a big blow to the peace process and creating new threats to peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
The prospects for the development of the Azerbaijani-Indian relations were also discussed at the meeting.
