Azerbaijani president congratulates Albanian prime minister on election victory
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Edi Rama, on the recent success of the Socialist Party in the country’s parliamentary elections.
In an official message addressed to the Albanian leader, President Aliyev emphasised the significance of the victory achieved under Rama’s leadership, describing it as a reflection of the public’s strong support and trust in his nationwide policies, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“I sincerely congratulate you on the victory of the Socialist Party of Albania, under your leadership, in the parliamentary elections held in your country,” President Aliyev stated. “This new success of the party you lead is a clear expression of the high regard for your nationwide policies and the multifaceted activities carried out for the prosperity of Albania. It is also a vivid manifestation of your people’s confidence in you and their strong support.”
The Azerbaijani leader also touched upon the growing ties between the two countries, noting the positive trajectory of bilateral cooperation.
“The level of interstate relations and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Albania, which are developing in the spirit of mutual respect and trust, is gratifying,” he said. “I am confident that we will continue to make joint efforts to further strengthen the ties of friendship uniting our countries and peoples, and to successfully advance our mutually beneficial cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally.”
President Aliyev concluded his message by wishing Prime Minister Rama continued health, happiness, and success in serving the Albanian people.
“I wish you robust health, happiness, and continued success in your responsible endeavours for the prosperity of the friendly people of Albania,” the message read.
Albania’s ruling Socialist Party, led by Prime Minister Edi Rama, has secured a commanding victory in the country’s parliamentary elections, winning 82 out of 140 seats with 52 per cent of the vote, according to near-complete results. This outcome grants Rama an unprecedented fourth term in office and strengthens his mandate to continue pursuing EU membership by 2030. The opposition centre-right Democratic Party, led by Sali Berisha, garnered 34 per cent of the vote and 51 seats, while three smaller parties claimed the remaining positions in parliament.
