Scientist highlights shared heritage of Azerbaijani and Iraqi Turks PHOTO
Southern and northern Turks of Azerbaijan and Iraq are parts of a single whole, said Azerbaijani Honoured Scientist, Professor Gazanfar Pashayev.
At a panel discussion within the framework of the forum "Turkman Heritage: Solidarity of Civil Societies" in Baku, Pashayev emphasized that Azerbaijan has always occupied a special place in the hearts of Kirkuk Turks, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Editor-in-chief of the Turkmeneli newspaper, writer, journalist and historian Nejat Kevseroglu shared his impressions from a trip to Karabakh: "The scale of restoration and construction work in the liberated territories amazed me. Modern hotels, houses and roads are a clear indicator of the will and power of Azerbaijan."
During the conference, Mehmet Tütüncü, the President of the Federation of Turkmeneli Associations, called for support for the creation of an Azerbaijani university in Kirkuk.
"Azerbaijan's support in this matter is very important for us. In addition, training Turkmens in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis in Kirkuk, conducting research, creating scientific works will serve the future of our peoples,” he said.
Addressing the event, President of the Federation of Syrian Turkman Associations Tarık Sulo Cevizci has said that Türkiye and Azerbaijan are strengthening their positions in Syria, Iraq and the Middle East, turning into one of the key forces in the region.
Cevizci emphasized that the Syrian Turkmans and the Azerbaijani people have a common origin, culture and heritage. "Syrian Turkmans have always supported Azerbaijan in its struggle for freedom, including during the Karabakh war. The development of joint media projects and economic cooperation will further strengthen our unity," he said.
The Chairman of the Organization of Turkman Scientists Nebil Shahin Kifrili noted that the development of cooperation between universities and cultural centers can strengthen ties between the countries.
"During my visit to the liberated territories, I saw the Karabakh University. We would like to open its branch in Iraq. In addition, we would be happy if an educational institution named after Fizuli appeared in Iraq,” he noted.
Esmira Fuad, Chairperson of the Eternal Turan Book Foundation, emphasized that Azerbaijan and Iraq are connected not only by a common history, but also by a vision of the future.
