Baku, Ashgabat advance economic partnership with new joint projects

Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral economic cooperation and advancing major joint initiatives during high-level talks held in Ashgabat.

Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov shared details of the meeting in a post on X following the Azerbaijani delegation's working visit to Turkmenistan for the 9th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan Joint Intergovernmental Commission, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

As part of the visit, the delegation met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan.

"During our working visit to Turkmenistan for the 9th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan Joint Intergovernmental Commission, we were received by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov," Jabbarov wrote.

The minister said the discussions underscored the steady expansion of bilateral relations, which continue to develop on the basis of friendship, mutual trust, and the political commitment of the two countries' leaders.

"We emphasized the dynamic development of Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan relations, built on friendship and mutual trust and driven by the political will of our Heads of State," he noted.

The talks also focused on strengthening economic ties and implementing major projects aimed at broadening cooperation between the two countries.

"We also exchanged views on the priorities of bilateral economic cooperation and the large-scale projects contributing to the diversification of our partnership," Jabbarov added.
