Baku, Astana mull next steps in strengthening financial market cooperation PHOTO
On April 8, 2025, the Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), Taleh Kazimov, met in Baku with Madina Abylkassymova, Chair of the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of Kazakhstan, to discuss ways of expanding cooperation between the two countries in the field of financial markets.
According to a statement from the Central Bank, the meeting served as a platform to exchange views on strategic initiatives and ongoing reforms in the financial sectors of both countries, Caliber.Az reports.
During the meeting, Kazimov presented the visiting Kazakh delegation with a comprehensive overview of the “Financial Sector Development Strategy for 2024–2026” being implemented by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
He also shared insights into the key strategic initiatives under this framework, which aim to modernize the financial system and enhance sectoral resilience.
For her part, Abylkassymova delivered an in-depth presentation on Kazakhstan’s efforts to ensure financial stability. She detailed the regulatory approaches applied in the banking and insurance sectors and elaborated on Kazakhstan’s experience in overseeing financial markets.
The Kazakh side also showcased the country's progress in digital transformation, presenting current digitalization projects and the results achieved so far in this area.
“The meeting continued with discussions on possibilities for expanding cooperation between the two institutions, as well as other matters of bilateral interest,” the Central Bank of Azerbaijan noted in its statement.
