Baku, Astana prepare joint project to develop the Caspian Sea

Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are preparing to establish a joint venture for dredging works in the Caspian Sea.

The initiative is outlined in a draft government decree by Kazakhstan on cooperation for the development of the Middle Corridor, Caliber.Az reports per Kazakh media.

The document was developed following instructions from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev after his visit to Azerbaijan on March 11–12, 2024.

According to the draft, the expected results of the decree will materialize after the agreement enters into force. The initiative is aimed at developing the Middle Corridor and expanding transport and logistics cooperation between the two countries.
