Baku, Beijing discuss expanding transport, logistics cooperation
Azerbaijan and China have held talks on strengthening cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Sameddin Asadov, and a delegation from China’s State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
Asadov noted that Azerbaijan was among the first countries to support the Belt and Road Initiative and views the Middle Corridor as a central component of the project.
He briefed the Chinese delegation on investments made in Azerbaijan’s transport infrastructure and major communications projects implemented over the past two decades. Asadov said the efficiency of regional transit routes had significantly improved thanks to active cooperation with neighbouring countries.
The Chinese side was also updated on the construction of the Zangazur Corridor. Officials said the project would help diversify regional transport links and support long-term stability and prosperity in the wider region.
Both sides underlined the substantial opportunities for deepening cooperation in transport and communications, enhancing the exchange of expertise, and advancing new joint initiatives.
