Baku discusses operations of CIS railway network
The 83rd meeting of the CIS Railway Transport Council has opened in Baku, bringing together senior railway officials from across the region.
The meeting gathers the heads of railway administrations from Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Iran, Armenia, Latvia, Estonia and Afghanistan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Representatives of the Organisation for Cooperation of Railways, the CIS Executive Committee and the International Confederation of Railway Trade Unions are also attending.
Delegates are reviewing the performance of the CIS railway network over the first nine months of 2025, plans for forming freight and container trains for international routes, the development of cross-border transport corridors, and tariff policy for international cargo shipments in 2026.
A range of other technical and organisational issues is also on the agenda.
The session will continue until November 26.
