Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has held high-level meetings with top executives from Saudi Arabia and Italy on the sidelines of the 30th Baku Energy Week, highlighting Baku’s drive to advance its role in the global energy transition and attract international collaboration in green technologies.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Minister Jabbarov shared details of his meeting with Mohammad Abunayyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power, a leading Saudi energy company, per Caliber.Az.
“Our discussions focused on key priorities of the global energy agenda, the imperative of transitioning toward sustainable and resilient business models, and explored prospects for deepening collaboration in the fields of green energy and seawater desalination,” Jabbarov noted.
In a separate meeting, Jabbarov met with Alessandro Puliti, Chief Executive Officer and General Director of Italy’s Saipem S.p.A., a major engineering and construction firm with expertise in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
“We exchanged views on Azerbaijan’s role in the global energy transition, ongoing projects in this direction, and prospects for future collaboration with the company,” the minister wrote.
Notably, the 2025 edition of the Baku Energy Week is taking place from June 2 to 4, 2025, in Baku, Azerbaijan. This premier regional energy event brings together global leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss the future of energy, sustainability, international cooperation. The event facilitates investment discussions and the signing of significant agreements, contributing to the country's energy sector growth and diversification.
The event serves as a strategic platform for Azerbaijan to demonstrate its role in the global energy landscape, balancing its rich oil and gas heritage with ambitions in renewable energy development.
