Baku hosts CIS's first world telecommunication development conference

The World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-2025) opened in Baku on November 17, marking the first time the event has been held in the CIS region.

Organised every four years by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the conference focuses on narrowing the global digital divide and advancing digital transformation, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

This year’s gathering, held at the Baku Congress Center, also serves as an international platform for youth engagement in the technology sector. Participants will be able to explore global technological trends, interact with industry experts, and build international partnerships.

More than 2,000 delegates from 150 countries are expected to take part in WTDC-2025, including over 300 youth representatives.

During the conference, ITU member states are set to adopt a declaration outlining key development priorities for the next four years. For the CIS region, around five priority areas are expected to be identified, with the ITU overseeing their implementation.

WTDC-2025 will continue in Baku until November 28.
