Baku hosts meeting between Azerbaijani Speaker and Chinese Communist Party official

Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova has met with a Chinese delegation led by Lu Zanchao, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and head of the International Relations Department of the CPC Central Committee, who is currently on an official visit to Azerbaijan.

During the discussions, Gafarova and Lu Zanchao focused on the strengthening of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and China, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The two sides highlighted their successful cooperation across various sectors and their consistent mutual support on international platforms. Gafarova reiterated Azerbaijan’s unwavering support for China’s "One China" policy and territorial integrity, while Lu expressed China’s continued backing for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial unity.

The meeting also delved into key projects aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, such as the "Middle Corridor" and the "Zangezur Corridor."

Both leaders emphasized the importance of these initiatives for expanding economic ties and reinforcing Azerbaijan’s role in the "Belt and Road" initiative. Additionally, they discussed the importance of high-level visits and direct meetings between heads of state as essential for furthering cooperation in all areas.
