Speaker: Geneva meeting focused on Azerbaijan-Armenia Washington agreements

The Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), Sahiba Gafarova, has provided details regarding her recent diplomatic engagement with Alen Simonyan, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, in Geneva.

Gafarova addressed the Milli Majlis on October 24, noting that the meeting represented the third interaction conducted under the auspices of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

"The meeting emphasised the importance of the work done to implement the agreements reached at the Washington summit," Gafarova said. 

The Geneva meeting between Gafarova and Simonyan took place on October 21, 2025, during the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. 

The two leaders welcomed the agreements reached at the Washington Summit and underlined ongoing efforts to normalise bilateral relations. 

Both stressed the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue and supporting parliamentary-level confidence-building measures to enhance mutual understanding between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
