Baku hosts US Treasury talks on banking and financial stability PHOTO
First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, Aliyar Mammadov, met with a visiting delegation from the U.S. Department of the Treasury in Baku to discuss avenues for bilateral cooperation in the financial sector, the Central Bank told Caliber.Az.
The talks focused on a broad range of regulatory and institutional issues, including banking supervision, financial stability, the development of payment systems, and risk management in the financial sector. Discussions also addressed efforts to strengthen corporate governance standards and further refine the regulatory framework.
"During the meeting, issues of banking supervision, ensuring financial stability, development of payment systems, as well as risk management in the financial sector, improvement of corporate governance and the regulatory framework were discussed," the Central Bank said in a statement.
The two sides also exchanged views on the future trajectory of cooperation between the Central Bank of Azerbaijan and the U.S. Treasury, including potential technical assistance projects across the identified areas.
