Baku signals shift to tech-driven partnership with United States
Economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States is entering a new phase, expanding into areas such as artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and digital innovation, a senior Azerbaijani official said.
Huseyn Huseynov, an adviser at Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy, made the remarks at the “Technovation — Science and Innovation for Sustainable Economic Transformation” event held in Baku, APA reported.
According to Huseynov, the United States has remained one of Azerbaijan’s most reliable economic partners for more than 30 years, with a solid foundation of cooperation established in energy, trade, and digital transformation.
He noted that the Azerbaijan–US economic dialogue held last week demonstrated new opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation.
Huseynov said that alongside continued collaboration in energy and critical minerals, the two sides are advancing a new stage of partnership focused on high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence, infrastructure, cloud technologies, and digital innovation.
Cooperation with companies such as Dell Technologies, Oracle, Microsoft, Amazon, and others reflects a shift in Azerbaijan–US relations from traditional investment-based ties toward strategic collaboration in technology and innovation, he added.
Huseynov emphasised that these initiatives are aimed at boosting economic productivity, creating new jobs, attracting investment, and strengthening Azerbaijan’s global competitiveness.
