Baku to host US-led World AI Week
Baku will host the second World Artificial Intelligence Week (World AI Week), a US-led initiative, later this year, underscoring growing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States in digital infrastructure and emerging technologies.
The announcement was made at the first meeting of the Azerbaijan–US Economic Dialogue, held in the Azerbaijani capital as part of Baku Energy Week and aligned with the Charter on Strategic Partnership between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The session was attended by Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov and US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs Caleb Orr. Officials signed a protocol establishing the new dialogue framework alongside a series of agreements covering digital infrastructure development, technology transfer and industrial modernisation.
Discussions during the inaugural dialogue covered regional connectivity, trade and transit, energy security, investment flows, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.
Participants reviewed projects including the TRIPP route and the Middle Corridor, as well as Azerbaijan’s expanding role as a logistics hub linking Europe and Central Asia.
Energy cooperation featured prominently, with talks focused on the Southern Gas Corridor and potential expansion of energy production capacity. Delegates also discussed supply chain diversification, including cooperation on critical minerals.
Artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure sessions highlighted US technological expertise, with both sides exploring collaboration in data centres, AI deployment, regulatory frameworks and broader digital ecosystem development.
