BCG: Traditional energy sector to lose 40% of jobs by 2030
Matteo Radice, Managing Director and partner, head of the Human Resources and Organisation Practice at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), has said that the traditional energy sector in the world will undergo a number of changes and lose 30-40 per cent of jobs by 2030.
"With the energy transition to green energy, what will be the demand for certain profiles? Sectors such as gas, coal, traditional electricity-fuelled energy, they will lose between 30 and 40 per cent of existing jobs by 2030, which is a very large figure," Radice said at the Baku Energy Forum on June 4, Caliber.Az reports.
He said about the same number of jobs will be created in renewable energy sectors - 25-30 per cent - over the same period.
"This is a big transformation that concerns all these sectors. When we translate all this into numbers, we will get 7 million jobs that will be unfilled by 2030. This is a huge figure, in fact it is a whole country or a megacity," he emphasised.
