Belarus envoy: Azerbaijan has become key Eurasian transport hub

Azerbaijan has emerged as an important transport and logistics hub in the Eurasian region, Belarusian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Dmitry Pinevich said at an international roundtable in Baku focused on regional connectivity and trade routes.

Speaking at the event titled “Azerbaijan as a Logistics Hub of Eurasia: Aligning the Interests of the EAEU and the South Caucasus,” Pinevich highlighted the growing significance of Azerbaijan in linking transport corridors across the region, Caliber.Az reports via local media. 

He said the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor was creating broad opportunities for regional cooperation.

“For Belarus, cooperation with Azerbaijan, especially in the field of transport and logistics, is of great importance. The North-South Transport Corridor, as well as the Belarus–Azerbaijan–Iran route, is a promising platform for cooperation,” Pinevich said.

The ambassador added that closer collaboration in railway development and industrial production could open new avenues for bilateral and regional ties.

“The joint production of railcars and other railway equipment, as well as the development of transport infrastructure, are among the important directions of future cooperation,” he said.

Pinevich noted that the Belarus–Azerbaijan–Iran route, along with transport links involving Russia and Türkiye, could develop into major economic projects in the future.

He also stressed the importance of expanding railway infrastructure, increasing cargo transit and launching joint manufacturing initiatives, saying stronger transport and communication links would contribute to deeper economic integration across Eurasia.
