BP-Azerbaijan: Central Azeri platform marks 20 years of oil production
The Central Azeri platform, the second-oldest facility in the Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) oilfield after Chirag, has reached its 20th anniversary of oil production, according to BP-Azerbaijan.
Since commencing operations, Central Azeri has led ACG’s output, having produced over 1.1 billion barrels (152 million tonnes) of oil—more than any other platform in the field, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
In 2024, the platform continued to operate safely and efficiently, maintaining its top position with an average daily output of 97,000 barrels per day.
The Central Azeri production, drilling, and quarters platform, along with its bridge-linked compression and water injection facility, forms one of the largest offshore complexes in the Caspian Sea.
It also serves as a key operational hub for other ACG installations, benefiting from advanced technical capabilities that support safe and reliable production across the field.
Currently, approximately 210 personnel work on the installation, with 96% being Azerbaijani nationals. The platform operates a total of 43 wells, comprising 28 oil producers, nine gas injectors, five water injectors, and one cuttings re-injector.
