BP Azerbaijan to build new platform at Shah Deniz field
BP Azerbaijan plans to construct a new platform at the Shah Deniz field, as confirmed by the company's press office head, Tamam Bayatli, in a statement to journalists.
"This will be a completely new platform, which will be a compressor platform designed to capture low-pressure gas from certain layers of the Shah Deniz field and transport it to the Sangachal terminal," said Bayatli, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Note that, BP has been a prominent presence in Azerbaijan for 30 years, solidifying its position as the country’s largest foreign investor. The energy giant continues to focus on strengthening its regional business, with a key emphasis on high-potential assets and projects in Azerbaijan, a vital energy partner.
BP currently operates two of the world’s most significant fields in the Caspian region: the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli oil field and the Shah Deniz gas field. These projects are supported by a world-class infrastructure, including extensive subsea pipelines and the Sangachal terminal, which plays a central role in global exports.
The company’s partnerships with the Azerbaijani government, SOCAR, and other stakeholders have been instrumental in delivering complex energy projects safely and efficiently. BP’s commitment extends beyond oil and gas, with a growing focus on clean energy, low-carbon technologies, and supporting Azerbaijan’s energy transition.
