BP to finalise "Karabakh" field development plan by year-end
BP plans to complete the full-scale development plan for Azerbaijan’s "Karabakh" field by the end of this year, according to Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, the company’s Vice President for the Caspian Region.
Speaking to reporters on November 17, he said the project schedule remains on track, with seismic surveys expected to begin next year, Caliber.Az reports.
Aslanbayli explained that once these surveys are finished, BP will define a detailed development concept for the field, outlining the next phase of work. He noted that the approved concept is expected to include both oil and gas production.
He also said BP intends to continue exploration activities at the large Shafag–Asiman gas field.
Following the recent involvement of Turkish companies in the project, the company is preparing the next stage of exploration. BP is currently assessing which drilling rig will be available for the upcoming exploration well, Aslanbayli added.
