Bulgaria expanding bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan
Bulgaria is in the phase of expanding bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan and is looking to deepen its energy partnership, Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Energy Kiril Temelkov has stated.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 31st Baku Energy Forum, he said his country is among the first EU member states to significantly diversify its natural gas supply sources with Azerbaijani support, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He made it clear that cooperation between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan has been ongoing for many years and is now at a stage of expanding bilateral interaction.
According to him, so far, both countries have worked very actively in the field of gas supplies.
“We are continuing in this area, but at the same time we are shifting attention to the electricity sector, implementing projects in the field of power energy. Therefore, we will be happy to continue the partnership and are confident of achieving very positive results,” he noted.
Temelkov emphasised that while gas cooperation has been the main focus so far, both sides are now broadening their agenda to include electricity and wider energy infrastructure projects.
