Burkina Faso takes over chairmanship of IsDB meetings after Baku session
Azerbaijan has formally handed over the chairmanship of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group’s Annual Meetings to Burkina Faso following the conclusion of this year’s gathering in Baku.
Burkina Faso has been elected chair of the Board of Governors for the 52nd IsDB Annual Meeting. The next session is scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 2027, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The transition was announced during the closing plenary session of the IsDB Group’s 51st Annual Meetings, which were held in Baku from June 16 to 19 under the theme “Regional integration for sustainable prosperity.
Addressing participants, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov expressed gratitude to all partners involved in organising the event. He thanked Islamic Development Bank Group President Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, the bank’s management and staff, representatives of member states, as well as organising teams, volunteers, and partners.
Jabbarov said the meetings had been organised at a high level in Baku and voiced confidence that cooperation between member countries and the IsDB Group would continue to expand in the future. He then officially declared the 2026 Annual Meetings closed.
The event brought together officials from the IsDB’s 57 member countries, along with representatives of international development institutions, financial leaders, and economic experts to discuss regional integration and sustainable growth.
