Bus carrying workers crashes into ditch in Astana, 14 injured
A bus transporting workers crashed into a ditch in Astana, Kazakhstan, resulting in injuries to fourteen people. The incident occurred on the road from the airport, with eyewitnesses reporting that the bus “flew into the ditch.”
According to the Astana Police Department, the accident happened on Kabanbay Batyr Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
“The driver of a Mercedes company bus lost control while making a U-turn, causing the vehicle to go off the road into a ditch. The passengers on board were taken to a medical facility. There were no fatalities in the accident. An investigation is underway,” police officials told Tengrinews.kz.
Emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the scene, including two ambulance crews. The injured passengers were transported to several medical facilities, including multidisciplinary city hospitals and the National Emergency Medicine Coordination Center.
The city’s Health Department confirmed that all fourteen injured individuals were examined by specialists.
“At the emergency department, all of them were examined by specialists. Some of the injured were discharged for outpatient treatment, while others are still undergoing examination. Most passengers suffered only minor bruises,” the department stated.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
