China, Azerbaijan strengthen investment ties at Xiamen forum PHOTO
Azerbaijan and China reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic cooperation at a bilateral investment event held in Xiamen, Fujian Province, during the 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT 2025).
The forum brought together government officials and around 100 entrepreneurs from both countries representing industry, energy, transport, logistics, agriculture, and ICT, Caliber.Az reports via the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO).
Opening the event, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev highlighted that relations between the two nations had entered a “new stage” with the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership, which has boosted trade and investment.
He emphasised that the "Belt and Road Initiative" continues to provide a strong foundation for this cooperation.
Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Ling Ji underlined the rapid development of economic relations, noting active Chinese participation in trade, logistics, industry, and green energy projects with Azerbaijan. He pointed to rising bilateral trade volumes and expanding investment flows in recent years.
From the Azerbaijani side, First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev described China as one of Azerbaijan’s key trading partners, stressing that investment cooperation had moved to a practical stage.
Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov added that combining Azerbaijan’s renewable energy potential with Chinese technological expertise offers strong prospects for future joint projects in the field of energy transition.
The forum also featured presentations from Azerbaijani and Chinese institutions on investment opportunities, business climate, and mutual trade promotion.
The event concluded with business-to-business (B2B) meetings aimed at fostering concrete partnerships.
