China looks to strengthen Azerbaijan's ties with SCO members
China is counting on closer cooperation between Azerbaijan and the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Liu Jianchao, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and head of the International Liaison Department, during a conference in Baku on April 4 titled "China-Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership: Joint Strengthening of Consolidation and Cooperation in the Global South," Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
According to him, the agenda for China and Azerbaijan is to promote peace and security, which can be achieved through the SCO platform.
"We sincerely believe that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will play a more important role. China and Azerbaijan will jointly implement the concept of security in Eurasia. This cooperation creates a foundation for ensuring peace and security on the Eurasian continent," he emphasized.
He noted that China and Azerbaijan are important members of the Global South.
"China and Azerbaijan are working together to develop the states of the Global South. Xi Jinping has always said that even if the international situation changes, China will always remain a supporter of developing countries on the Eurasian continent. The potential of the states of the Global South is great, and these states oppose terrorism," he added.
Liu Jianchao also wished success to Azerbaijan's presidency in the Non-Aligned Movement.
