Chinese firms eye infrastructure projects in Azerbaijan PHOTO

Chinese corporations have expressed interest in participating in Azerbaijan’s infrastructure projects, following high-level discussions in the capital.

Anar Kerimov, First Deputy Minister of Finance of Azerbaijan, met on November 7 with delegations from the China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure) and the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), who are visiting Baku, Caliber.Az reports via the Ministry of Finance.

The meeting focused on expanding economic and financial cooperation, building on agreements reached during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to China in August. 

Officials said the high-level visit provided a strong impetus for further development of trade and investment partnerships, particularly in infrastructure.

Kerimov outlined ongoing transport infrastructure projects, including initiatives planned under the “State Programme for the Improvement of Transport Infrastructure in Baku and Adjacent Areas for 2025–2030.”

The Chinese delegation expressed interest in participating in these projects and exploring opportunities for cooperation in technical, engineering, construction, and financial sectors.

Sinosure Deputy Director Cheng Tao highlighted that Azerbaijan’s large-scale infrastructure and transport projects in recent years had significantly diversified domestic and regional logistics, enhanced the competitiveness of international trade routes, and optimised transport flows.

He stressed the importance of deepening economic and infrastructure cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
