CIS leaders hold brief talks ahead of summit in Dushanbe
Several leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held a brief discussion ahead of the opening of the heads-of-state council meeting in Dushanbe.
Footage of the talks was shared on the Telegram channel Pul Pervogo, associated with the press office of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
In the room were Lukashenko, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev.
The CIS summit, held on October 10 in Dushanbe, brought together the presidents of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, along with the Armenian prime minister. The meeting is chaired by President Rahmon, who holds the CIS chairmanship for 2025.
The Council of Heads of State is the CIS’s highest decision-making body, responsible for addressing key issues, including amendments to the CIS Charter and organisational structure.
The previous council meeting took place in October 2024 in Moscow.
