The COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company has revealed its first official partners for the upcoming Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, set to take place in Baku.
The announcement highlights PASHA Holding as the Strategic Impact Partner and Azersun Holding as the Sustainable Development Partner, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
As part of their roles, these local partners are actively involved in Azerbaijan’s National Pledge Program. This initiative aims to assess the internal capacities of Azerbaijani businesses to meet climate goals, develop future Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies, and adhere to local sponsorship criteria. The program offers consultation and training sessions provided by the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, designed to enhance the management of resources and competencies.
By aligning with COP29, PASHA Holding and Azersun Holding will engage with global climate policies, showcase their sustainability efforts, and support the climate transition in their respective sectors. Their involvement highlights the crucial role they play in advancing green policies and aiding the global effort to maintain the 1.5°C climate target.
The Green Zone at COP29 will feature a variety of global businesses committed to climate-friendly solutions. This space will serve as a hub for showcasing innovative products and fostering climate action. Participants will benefit from a comprehensive schedule of events, including presentations, networking opportunities, workshops, and musical performances.
Exhibitors will also have the chance to host their own events using conference facilities designed for maximum visibility and engagement. The Green Zone will offer diverse meeting formats to facilitate collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and networking, reinforcing its role as a dynamic venue for advancing climate action.
The Conference of the Parties (COP), is held annually, with the Presidency rotating between the five recognised UN regions.
This year, Azerbaijan has been selected as the Presidency of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29), to be hosted in Baku this November. Azerbaijan has a strong track record of hosting international events and has chosen Baku Stadium as the venue for COP29.
To deliver a process that is transparent, impartial and inclusive, the COP29 Presidency has developed a plan based on two mutually reinforcing pillars to enhance ambition and enable action.
