COP29 lead negotiator highlights Azerbaijan–UNESCO climate cooperation at global forum
Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and Lead Negotiator for COP29, Yalchin Rafiyev, attended a high-level conference on October 22 titled "From Baku to Belem: UNESCO’s Climate Action for Building Informed Resilient Societies.”
Rafiyev’s participation were shared via the official COP29 account on the social media platform X, Caliber.Az reports.
In his remarks, Rafiyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s strategic partnership with UNESCO in enhancing climate resilience, particularly through scientific collaboration and educational initiatives. He underscored the importance of informed societies in driving effective climate action and sustainable development.
Rafiyev also reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to global climate leadership, noting the country’s dedication to supporting international efforts aimed at fostering sustainability and resilience in the face of climate change.
Co-organized by Azerbaijan and UNESCO, a conference was held at the Organization’s headquarters in Paris.
The event highly valued Azerbaijan's cooperation with UNESCO within the framework of its COP29 Presidency.
Along with presenting UNESCO's efforts at COP29, the event also served to lay the groundwork for COP30 in Belém.
